Flaky Cheese Danish

Hello everyone!
I made this wonderful recipe yesterday morning and it was so, so good! It was also really easy. We had actually been wanting to make it for awhile, but just never did. It became a quick favorite, but since it's more like a dessert than breakfast it will be one of those special occasion recipes. So, without further ado, here it is:

Flaky Cheese Danish

2 8-oz. tubes of crescent rolls, divided

1-1/4 c. of sugar, divided

1 egg, separated and divided

8-oz. package of cream cheese

1 t. vanilla extract

1 t. cinnamon

*1/2 c. chopped walnuts

Unroll one package of crescent rolls, separate and place on the bottom of a 13"x9" baking dish; press seams together. Cream together one cup sugar, egg yolk, cream cheese, and vanilla. Spread mixture evenly over crescent rolls. Unroll the remaining tube of crescent rolls and place over top of cream cheese mixture. Beat egg white until frothy; brush over crescent rolls. Mix together cinnamon, remaining sugar, and walnuts; sprinkle on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Makes 16 servings. *I did not put the walnuts on because we don't like nuts very much.

Enjoy!
